Introducing
Bernard Walker, Jr.
Bernard, a quiet, soft-spoken Native American (member of the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma), was drafted into the Army in 1968 and served as a sergeant in the Vietnam War. He is a Bronze Star recipient.
After the war, he completed his college education in Chemistry and Chemical Engineering and spent the last nine years of his career working with the Alaska Native Tribal Health Consortium. He traveled to over 100 remote Alaska villages, where he started up new water plants, trained operators, wrote operating manuals, and helped improve water and sewer systems. His Native American background and culture are reflected in his life and throughout this book, War and Love.
